Couple of centuries ago, many travelers was ruled to travel on foot by Tokugawa Shogun.
Hakone old highway is well known as most challenging part of trip through Tokaido high was with steep gradient and the stone pavement laid for the sake of safe travel by the Tokugawa shogunate has remained to this day, leaving this road for visitors to actually walk on it.
You can still walk through part of this stone paved road with full of green nature and please imagine that ancient travelers traveld thouthans of kilo meters away carrying luggages and Japanese sandals in the rainy or snowing days and then you would be able to sympathize with ancient soldiers and nature.
